Overview
The Los Angeles Dodgers wanted a digital trading room: a dedicated space where statistics, scouting, projections and medical information come together on screens and walls, so decisions can be made as a group.
As a Creative Director at R/GA, I led the integrated team that worked with the Dodgers to design and develop it, from the physical room to the software on its walls.
One room, every kind of information
The room brings four streams of player information together, for two very different modes of work: individual research at a desk and group decisions at the wall.
Working with the Dodgers
We worked through the problem with the Dodgers in hands-on working sessions.

Exploring the physical space
We studied the room in plan, elevation and 3D to understand how screens, people and conversation would share the space.

Understanding the workflows
We modeled how the room would be used, from building research individually to collaborating and presenting, and the core workflow underneath: find, compare, highlight, project and save.

Key views
The tool brings scouting reports and medical data together with salary and performance data, so staff can search and display player information that analysts once compiled by hand. The design had to work on the desktop and across a 17-screen display wall.
